The theatre company Actinghouse Productions was founded in 2002 by German actress Irene Christ (Schauspielhaus Bochum, Duesseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Volksbuehne Berlin amongst others) and Maltese journalist (MaltaToday and The Malta Business Times) Julian Manduca †(1958 - 2005).
We aim to bring together theatre people from different European countries and to produce high quality performances.
Our productions are in English, but you might find some hints of other languages (including Maltese) in our plays.
We have a contemporary approach to all our plays, even the classics. Our choice of plays ranges from Kleist's 'Amphitryon' to Ibsen's 'The Lady from the Sea', to very modern plays like Nicky Silver's 'Fat Men in Skirts' and Moira Buffini's 'Dinner'.
Actinghouse also offers drama classes, and services for the TV / film industry.
In Malta there is no regular subsidy for any theatre ensembles. We have to finance ourselves and we engage the teams from project to project.
We perform in the Theatre in the Round and in the Music Room at the St. James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, at the black box theatre of the MITP (Mediterranean Institute Theatre Programme) and at the National Theatre 'Manoel Theatre'. All of them are located in Malta's capital city Valletta.
Please find out more about the people involved on the 'People' page.
Actinghouse Productions has repeatedly been featured in the Maltese press (The Times of Malta, The Malta Independent, MaltaToday, several magazines), on various Maltese TV and radio programmes including "Voice of the Mediterranean", in Germany on NDR 2, WDR and SWR International.
Our legal status is that of a 'firm'.
